A ROOKIE cop accused of having an illicit relationship with a drug kingpin is no longer facing criminal charges.
PC Caitlin Howarth was investigated by West Yorkshire Police over her alleged links to the jailed heroin dealer.
She was charged with misconduct in a public office and was due to stand trial next year.
But the Crown Prosecution Service today dropped the case against her.
West Yorkshire Police said: “The CPS has now advised that they are offering no evidence meaning that she has been acquitted of the charge.
“Ms Howarth has resigned from the force.”
In April, her legal team fought to have the court case against her thrown out.
However, the force confirmed Howarth is still subject to a misconduct investigation.
The 24-year-old also reportedly had an affair with married Chief Superintendent Daniel Greenwood – 17 years her senior.
The Bradford District Commander, who has worked with West Yorkshire Police for 20 years, has been suspended on full pay following the claims.
He is due to face a misconduct panel this week.
