THE shocking moment a cyclist was ‘throttled’ by a driver in a horror assault.
Harrowing footage showed the assault taking place in Edinburgh’s Old Town yesterday afternoon.
Video taken of the incident shows the cyclist, 34, in front of a white motor in the road.
The man on the bike appeared to be in an argument with the woman passenger of the car.
The male driver of the vehicle then gets out and heads towards the cyclist.
He then grabs the bike rider’s neck with both hands and throws him to the ground.
The back of the cyclist’s head appears to hit the road after the violent assault.
Parts of the bike are sent flying into the road as the man was throttled to the ground.
The pair then appear to get back inside the motor.
Meanwhile, the injured cyclist is left lying in the road clutching his head.
Medical crews raced the man to hospital to be checked over.
Cops have confirmed they are probing the attack.
Officers say they are following positive lines of enquiry into the street assault.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.25pm on Friday, 20 September, 2024, we received a report of a male cyclist being assaulted during an altercation with the male driver of a car in High School Wynd, Edinburgh.
“The 34-year-old victim was taken to hospital to be checked over and officers are following positive lines of enquiry in relation to the incident.”
