A YOUNG girl and a woman have died after a horror crash on a country road.
The passenger, a 6-year-old girl, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver, a 32-year-old woman, was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Ayrshire, Scotland.
She tragically passed away a short time later.
The pair were in a white Volkswagen Passat that was involved in the horror single-vehicle crash in Ayrshire yesterday evening.
Emergency services were scrambled to the A76 near the B713 junction between Catrine and Auchinleck at around 5pm on Tuesday.
Cops confirmed the road was closed for several hours to allow for investigations to take place.
Relatives of the woman and girl have been made aware and are being supported by Police Scotland.
Officers are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the crash to get in touch.
Inspector Kenny Malaney said: “Our thoughts are with the everyone affected by this tragic incident at this extremely difficult time.
“Extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish what has happened and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash, or may have been in the area at the time, to contact us.
“I am also keen to speak to anyone who have may dashcam footage.
“Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting incident 2596 of 24 September, 2024.”
It comes after a woman and four horses died following a fatal collision where the livestock ran loose on the major road.
Emergency services raced to the A737 between Howwood and Kilbarchan at around 3.10am on Monday.
Officers were called to the crash involving a Mercedes A-class car and a MAN box van.
The 59-year-old female passenger of the Mercedes was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Three others involved in the incident were rushed to hospital.
